Segundo a CNN, Thomas Kohnstamm, autor que contribuiu para 12 dos guias de viagem da Lonely Planet, disse a imprensa australiana: «They [Lonely Planet] didn’t pay me enough to go to Colombia. I wrote the book in San Francisco. I got the information from a chick I was dating who was an intern in the Colombian consulate».
